The bridge at top dam was destroyed after a huge storm. Logs floating in the dam were swept over the wall and crashed into the bridge
The workers set to cleaning up the mess
A few hours later a smaller but serviceable bridge was in place.
These plants were hanging over the spillway
And a short time later it had all been cleaned up
We moved along the wall to the unruly bamboo
And that too was removed
The piles of logs lying in the river and grass were moved to one place
They were heavy!
But the guys never complained
The last task was to remove the tree that was blocking the path on the dam wall
10 minutes with a chain saw.......
All gone!!
Autumn leaves in Delta Park
Enjoy the Park, it's looking lovely at the moment with it's autumn finery!
What a lot of hard work again, but it's looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteHard work like this is seldom recognized or publicly appreciated. Well done Shirley.
ReplyDeleteI challenge every cyclist, dog walker or person who enjoys the park to help Shirley by doing their little bit in keeping the park clean and tidy.
ReplyDelete(Including picking up your dog's pooh and other rubbish)
Many, many thanks Shirley.
thank you for all your hard work, Shirley. It is a pleasure to experience Delta. For anyone who is interested, I have started a Facebook group for Delta Park lovers to share their experiences, comments etc Perhaps it could also be a place to galvanise support for future clean-ups etc
ReplyDeleteI have spoken to ADT about the homeless people sleeping in the public toilets near the Environmental Centre and they seem to have addressed the issue.
See 'Delta Park, Joburg' on FB
Cheers,
Sarah
